All Set For the 2011 Qatar Ladies Open

The Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) has completed all preparations for the 2011 Qatar Ladies Open to be held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex from the 21st to the 26th of February.

The Main Round will get underway on the 21st of February where tennis fan will have the opportunity to watch the most prominent WTA Stars including world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark and No. 2 Vera Zvonareva and no. 16 Maria Sharapova both from Russia, Serbian Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic.

The preparations of QTF for the event began one month ago after the Qatar ExxonMobil Tennis Open which came to an end early in January.

After the dazzling success in hosting of the WTA Championships over the past three years, the QTF and the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex are ready to welcome back the champions of the WTA at the Qatar Ladies Open 2011.

This year’s edition is expected to be the most exciting as the event will feature participation of 20 out of the top 30 players in WTA ranking.

Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex

The preparations for the 2011 Qatar Ladies Open were not limited to the main court and subsidiary courts on which the matches will be stage, but they included placing  the event logo, participating players photos and spectators signals in every part inside the complex.

The fans of The Qatar Ladies Open can enjoy themselves at the Public Village which  is divided into three main zones, all of which will offer a great variety of activities and entertainment. The first zone is the food court which is located to the left of the village. At the food court, fans will be able to purchase food and beverages from a wide range of chains including Pizza Hut, Asiana, Hardees, Sterling as well as TCBY and Coffee Beanery.  

The second zone of the Public Village includes various sponsor booths and the QTF’s merchandising store where fans can practice volleys on the mini-tennis courts located there.

The third zone in the Public Village is the Souq Area and the Kid’s zone which is located beside the Souq area. This Souq is built for public to experience one of Qatar’s most beloved cultural attractions. In addition, the Kid’s zone will host several activities like face-painting, medallion painting, arts and crafts etc. In addition, there will also be a kid’s play area which will include inflatable castles, obstacle courses etc. 

Moreover, the VIP Village provides an opportunity for guests to mingle amongst other VIP’s, players and sponsors while enjoying a luxurious and relaxing ambience. The VIP guests will be able to enjoy a wide selection of international cuisines, live stations and exquisite beverages while listening to some of the best lounge DJ’s in Doha.

Tickets are available for fans at designated stands in Villagio, Landmark, and at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex.

It is worth mentioning that Tickets went on Sale from the 12th of January through "Tickets" link at the official website of Qatar Tennis Federation www.qatartennis.org.

Mr. Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, QTF President stressed that the QTF has completed all arrangements for the such a prestigious event and wished the tournament to live up to expectations as Qatar has become the capital of sports in Middle East.

“It is a pleasure for me to invite fans to attend the 2011 Qatar ladies Open and enjoy the family atmosphere at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex’’ said Al Khelaifi.

Karim Al Alami, Tournament Director expected the event to attract a great number of fans specially with the huge popularity of many of the participating stars as Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki.
