Federer to Play Rochus in Qatar Open Opener

World No. 1 Roger Federer will open his Qatar ExxonMobil Open campaign against Belgium’s Christophe Rochus. He had played against Rochus only once back in 2001 at Wimbledon where he won in three straight sets.
The draw Ceremony which was held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex has handed an easy opener for the 28 – year-old superstar.
The $1.3m tournament will start tomorrow.
World No.2 Spaniard Rafael Nadal will also have a favorable open against Italian SimoneBolelli who is ranked 93.
The draw ceremony was conducted in the presences of Qatar Tennis Federation’s (QTF) President Mr. Nasser Ghanem Al Khelaifi, Tournament Director Karim Alami, players Mikhail Youzhny of Russia, Serbia’s Viktor Troicki and ATP supervisor Carlos Sanchez.
Qatar’s Wildcard entrant Abdulla Haji will face Belgian Olivier Rochus.
