Qatar Tennis Federation Celebrates Sports

February 13, 2013 – Doha, Qatar – On the occasion of National Sport Day, Qatar Tennis Federation, led by president Nasser GhanimAl-Khelaifi, takes pride to announce various events in Doha throughout the week to showcase sport and fitness.

From 12th to 16th February 2013, QTF has partnered with the Qatar Tourism Authority to hold the Palm Island event. Itincludesmultiple activities like mini-tennis courts, an athletics track, beach volleyball, beach tennis, a huge kids zone equipped with trampolines and slides, in addition to a stage where many entertainment shows will be displayed to amuse spectators.The event welcomes people from all around Qatar from the age of four and above from 10.00 am till 3.00 pm.

On Wednesday, WTA players who are in Doha for the Qatar Total Open 2013, participated by visiting Palm Island. KvetaPeschke and Anna-Lena Groenfeld were joined by former WTA player, Tatiana Golovin, and Grand Slam champion, Jana Novotna, to visit the island and interact with the school children who were taking part in the festivities. They played on the mini-tennis courts and posed for pictures.

At the same period of time, coordinating with the Qatar Olympic Committee, QTF isholding an event from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm in the parking area of the Qatar general Post Office. The eventincludes four mini-tennis courts and many other activities to introduce the game of tennis to people participating in this event, under the supervision of QTF coaches.

All these endeavors carried are in line with the strategy of the QTF to promote the game and increase the popularity of tennis in the country.
