Qatari players keep enjoying success at the smash tennis academy championships

The players from the Qatar national team keep paving their way into the finals of the SMASH Tennis Academy Championships 2010. At the courts of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, Mohamed Khinji battled it out to overcome his opponent – also part of the national team - Omar Settawy during the quarter-finals in the boys under 18 category. During the first set both player showed confidence and strength making it very hard on each other. Towards the end of the first set Settawy lost precision in his game and gave into Khinji’s good stokes ending the set 6-4. In the second set a much confident and stronger Khinji virtually crushed Settawy causing the first upset of the day winning the second set 6-1 and securing a spot in the semifinals.
In the same category Qatari Abdalla Al Mahmoud didn’t give a chance to his rival Ahmed Al Ali. During the match, Ahmed struggled to retain his service game handing the match to Mahmoud who was in superb shape as he clinched the first and second set by 6-0, 6-4, moving to the semifinals against Amir Sorial who previously defeated Jassim Al Mulla.
