Qatari players Mubarak Shanan Zayed and Abdulrahman Al Harib reached the semifinals at the second tournament of the Sweden Camp in the under 14 category.

 

Shanan and Harib played their first match against locals Johannes Jansson and Joakim Pinola. 

The match lasted over an hour and the Qatari players had to battle it out to win the first set of the match. Jansson and Pinola were in total control of the game going up 4-1, but Shanan and Harib took over the rest of the set advancing 3 games and ultimately wining the set by 7-5. The second set proved to be easier and the Qataris only allowed their opponents to score three points winning the match 6-3, moving to quarterfinals.

 

During the quarterfinals the Qataris encountered more resistance and better game in their adversaries Eric Ahren Moonga and Jeppe Johansson – Holm from Sweden. Doubles team of Shanan and Harib were downed in the first set 3-6. During the second set the situation was reverted and the players from the National Team knocked out the Swedish by 6-2.

 

The third and final set became a marathon for both teams extending to additional 4 games. During the entire set both teams were up by 1 point, but Shanan and Harib overcame their opponents by 10-8 securing a spot in the semifinals, where they unfortunately lost to Georg Lundkvist and Linus Frost, 7-6, 6-3.
