14 Aug 2010
Nasser Bin Khaled Holding (NBK) will host from the 16th – 25th of August, the NBK 21st Ramadan Tournament.
The tennis tournament is organized every year at the beginning of Ramadan featuring Mens Singles and Doubles, Veterans Singles and Doubles competitions and for the third year in a row; Boys and Girls, Singles and Doubles. The initiative to include the junior categories comes as part of a strategy of NBK to support the players of the Qatar National Team. The event will be held at the courts of the Sheraton Hotel and the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
NBK 21st Ramadan Tournament is a social and sporting event that will gather tennis players from all over Qatar to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan through great tennis. The selection of the players is made based on invitations from NBK Holding and Qatar Tennis Federation. The event will be played on the round robin basis and teams will be drawn into four groups – Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D – of 5 to 6 teams. Matches start at 8:00pm every night up to the 25th.
”This year we have the biggest and strongest draw ever. All of the players have been looking forward to participate in this event; therefore I am sure we will witness the best Ramadan Tournament to date. We are also very happy to have the boys and girls singles and doubles competitions back for the 21st edition of the tournament. We want to show the country the talented youngsters we have in the National Team”, said Mr. Sultan Khalfan, Tournament director of QTF during the main draw at the Sheraton Hotel, adding; “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sheikh Nawaf Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani for his extraordinary support to our sport, and wish the entire community of Qatar a Ramadan Kareem.”
Mr. Abed Mawass, Acting PR manager of Nasser Bin Khaled said: “The Nasser Bin Khaled annual Ramadan Tournament boasts a long-standing sports heritage. 21 years have pushed the tournament amidst the large-scale sports calendar events in town and this ties in naturally with the name of NBK which has been and still is a devout supporter of local talent. We’re confident that this year’s tournament will be all the more successful.”
The NBK 21st Ramadan Tournament is included in the yearly calendar of events of the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF).
