Top Seeds Battle For The Final
07 Jan 2011

Friday is semi-finals day at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, where all top four seeds are still in the running for this year’s title.

First up is Roger Federer (SWI), world number two, against the third seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA). The Swiss leads in their head-to-head by 2-1. Their most recent encounter was in the semi-finals of the Australian Open last year, where Federer won in straight sets. Both players are in good form this week, which should make for an exciting match.

Then it will be the world number one’s turn, Rafael Nadal, to get his revenge against Nikolay Davydenko (RUS). The Russsian won their last encounter, here in Doha last year’s final, 0-6 7-6(8) 6-4.

After suitable rest, it will then be the final of the doubles event. There Rafael Nadal will play with his compatriot, Marc Lopez , with hope of regaining the title which they also won in 2009. In the final, they will play the Italian duo, Daniele Bracciali/Andreas Seppi.

Play will start at 4.30p.m. at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
