The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2010 started yesterday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. The first day of the event was full of excitement, great tennis and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. Among many activities World No.1 Roger Federer and World No. 2 Rafael Nadal mingled among the public that attended the first day of the event to sign autographs and hit the balls with the kids during half hour. In addition Federer addressed a press conference to talk to the media about the start of the new season and his participation in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2010.

 

The first day of the event saw fifth seed Serbian Vicktor Troicki advanced to the second round by defeating Daniel Gimeo – Traver from Spain in what it was the first match of the day. Troicki is making his second straight main draw appearance at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2010, won the first set 6-1. In the second set Troicki encountered some resistance from Spanish Gimeo – Traver who eventually lost 7-5.

 

In other first round match of the day Sergiy Stakhovsky from Ukraine defeated Russian World No. 19 and fourth seeded Mikhail Youzhny in a match that lasted and hour and 45 minutes.
