Qatar Tennis Federation and Intercontinental Doha 2011 Tennis Open Begins Tomorrow

Qatar Tennis Federation and Intercontinental Doha present the 2011 Tennis Open. From the 17th to 31st of October, the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex and the Intercontinental Doha tennis courts will host players in 18 different categories – Boys Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 18; Girls Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 18; Boys Doubles Under 12, Doubles Under 14, Doubles Under 18; Ladies Singles and Doubles; Men’s Singles and Doubles; Men’s Veterans Singles and Doubles; and Mixed Doubles. 200 players are participating in the tournament.
 
For the fourth year in a row, the Qatar Tennis Federation and Intercontinental Doha Tennis Open highlights players from Doha over two weeks of play and boasts a total prize money of QR 49,500. Winners of various categories also receive membership to the Intercontinental tennis club. The “Open” tournament is unique in that it is one of a select few evens in Doha open to all categories – juniors, adults, veterans and mixed teams. It also provides an excellent opportunity for the Qatar National Team to boost their worldwide rankings by playing various local players.
 
For the first time this year, the second week of action will also include a children’s tournament – 120 local children will participate in a tournament held on the courts at the Intercontinental. Every child playing will receive a prize.
 
Early rounds of play will be at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex and the finals will be played on the courts at the Intercontinental Doha. Admission is free throughout the tournament.
