Top Four Seeds Into 2nd Round of Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2012

January 3, 2012 - Day Two showcased the top four seeds of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2012. France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga took on wildcard Makel Jaziri from Tunisia. The pair split sets before Tsonga managed to take command of the third set and win the match 76, 67, 61. No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal then took to Center Court to face Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber. Though Rafa won the first set handily, Kohlschreiber took the second set to a tiebreak that the German went on to win. Nadal had an early lead in the third set and won the match 63, 67, 63. The Swiss maestro, Roger Federer, then faced Russian Nikolay Davydenko in a repeat of last year's final. In what was the most anticipated first-round meeting of the tournament, Federer took command of the match from the first point and easily dismissed Davydenko 62, 62. Gael Monfils of France was the final seed to take to Center Court and the No. 4 player in the draw and faced Portugal's Rui Machado. The entertaining Frenchman won 75, 63. Other winners of the day included Mikhail Youzhny, Ivo Karlovic, Grega Zemlja, Denis Gremelmayr, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Matthias Bachinger.
