Super Spaniard David Ferrer Leads Doha Field in 2013
31 Dec 2012
Welcome to the 21st Qatar ExxonMobil Open!
The desert is once again the starting point for the world's greatest athletes as they begin their 2013 ATP World Tour campaign. This year's field is headlined by David Ferrer, who won an ATP World Tour-best seven titles and 76 match wins in 2012 and is the current world No. 5. Frenchman Gael Monfils is making his sixth appearance in Doha.
He has reached the final twice, losing to countryman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga last year and Switzerland¹s Roger Federer in 2006. Monfils will be joined by fellow French player, world No. 10, Richard Gasquet. Gasquet recently won the title at the PTT Thailand Open.
Gasquet returns to Doha after a seven-year absence. His only previous appearance was in 2006. The rest of the field is a who's who of well known names, like fan favorite Feliciano Lopez and Doha regulars Nikolay Davydenko, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Mikhail Youzhny, along with rising stars Jeremy Chardy, Lukas Rosol and Lukas Lacko.
