Total Named Title Sponsor for Qatar Total Open 2013

February 10, 2013 – Doha, Qatar – Qatar Tennis Federation announced Total’s ongoing title sponsorship of the Qatar Total Open 2013, under the patronage of Her Highness SheikhaMozabint Nasser. Scheduled February 11 through February 17, 2013, this event is one of the major highlights on the Qatar sports calendar and the international tennis circuit, enticing the top players in the world to compete in Doha in the WTA Premier 5 event.

The Qatar Total Open 2013 will see world No. 1, Victoria Azarenka, look to defend her title as she returns to Doha. She is joined by all Top 10 WTA players, including multi-Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, two-time Doha winner Maria Sharapova, 2011 FrenchOpen champion Li Na, 2011 Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova, and 2012 Doha finalist Sam Stosur. Also in the stellar field is 2006 Doha champion Nadia Petrova and2008 French Open winner Ana Ivanovic.

Nasser Bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, Qatar Tennis Federation’s President stressed that the Federation is delighted to continue its cooperation with Total Qatar and highlighted the company's contributions to tennis tournaments organized by QTF.

This event was first played in 2001 and this sponsorship enables us to continue to deliver a high quality event for both players and attendees," he said.“An event of this caliber, supported by Total, showcases amazingathletes, a spectacular venue, and adds to Qatar’s presence as a global sports hub,” he added.

This is the reason why we have decided to create a special day for the young students of Lycee Voltaire. This is Total’s legacy to expand the interest and popularity of tennis amongst the youth in Qatar.This year, we also become the title sponsor of the Total Qatar National 2013 Youth Tournament.
