National team players, Moussa Shanan, has reached the semifinal of a professional event for the first time as he and doubles partner advanced through at the 2nd Qatar ITF Futures event at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex.
Shanan and doubles partner, Britain's Oliver Golding, defeated Qatar's Mubarak Shanan and China's Zhang Zhou, 6-1, 6-4, in the quarterfinals. This win give Shanan the opportunity to increase his ranking as he gains a point on the ATP World Tour rankings.
Shanan and Golding will next face Ruan Roelofse of South Africa and Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei.
Shanan was very happy with his most recent result and reaching his first-ever semifinal gives him further motivation to continue with his strong performance as he and Golding look to reach the final. Of the final, Shanan said, "This match will not be easy as our opponents are playing at a very high level. I have to show my best performance on court. I hope we can reach the final and go on to win the title. I am looking forward to enhancing Qatar's place on the international map."
