Georgia's Basilashvili Wins the 5th Qatar ITF Futures

The 5th Qatar ITF Futures was won by Georgian player and top Seed Nikoloz Basilashvili, a 22-year-old who is currently at the highest ranking of his career, 192.

It was the third ITF Futures singles title for Basilashvili in 2014 (this year). He defeated the second seed from India, Ramkumar Ramanathan 7-6(5), 6-2 in a high-quality final at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Saturday, December 13.

However, Ramanathan did not leave the tournament empty handed as he and his teammate, and countryman, N SriramBalaji prevailed over Irishman Sam Barry and Austrian Maximilian Neuchrist 6-3, 6-4, taking home the doubles title.

The closing ceremony took place after the final singles match. In attendance were Yousif Al Obaidly, the Qatar Tennis Federation Secretary General,Tariq Zainal, The QTF Assistant Secretary General and Mohammed Al Subaie, the QTF Board Member and Saad Al Mohannadi, Tournament Director and Ehab Awad, Administrative Supervisor, as well as the fans.
