Simiona Halep, the second-seeded player at the2016 Qatar Total Open, arrived in the country by 12:40pm on Saturday to begin her quest for a shot at her second title at the prestigious premier event of the WTA Tour calendar.
The world No.3 Halep, winner of the 2014 edition of the tournament, joins a star-studded field which includes top seed Angelique Kerber, defending champion Lucie Safarova, Caroline Wozniacki, Petra Kvitova among others, for the Doha event.
The tournament is being held at the impressive state-of-the-art Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex from February 21-27.
The winner of the $2,818,00 total prize money tournament goes home with $518,500 cash prize while the finalist gets $259,300. Semi-finalists will be rewarded with $129,520 each for their efforts.
