Top seed Angelique Kerber of Germany, second seed Simona halep of Romania, third seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and fourth seed Garbine Muguruza of Spain will take to the courts at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Tuesday.
Fifth seed Petra Kvitova, sixth seed Belinda Bencic of Switzerland, seventh seed Lucie Safarova and eighth seed Carla Suarez Navarro ofSpain will also sweat it out on Tuesday for a place in the third round of the US $ 2.5 million tournament.
All the top eight seeds got a bye in their first round.
In action on Monday, 9th seed Roberta Vinci of Italy beat Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine 6-2, 6-1 while Denisa Allertova of the Czech Republic beat 15th seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 7-5, 6-4.
In other matches on Monday, Japan's Nao Hibino, Coco Vandeweghe of the US, Monica Niculescu of Romania, Daria Gavrilova of Australia and Elena Vesnina of Russia also advanced at the tournament.
