The 2nd Qatar Asian Junior U14 Tennis Tournament organized by the Qatar Tennis, squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) in cooperation with the Asian Tennis Federation was concluded on Friday.
The medal ceremony was attended by the QTSBF Executive Director Saad Al Mohannadi and the Tournament Director Sultan Khalfan.
Qatar’s Rashed Nawaf defeated Taim Al Azmeh of Syria in straight sets to clinch the singles title at the hard courts of Khalifa International Complex.
In doubles event, Rashed Nawaf teamed up with Ibrahim Al Sulaiti to take the second place. In the final match, they suffered a defeat against a Syrian duo including Taim al Azmeh and Ous Abu Hassoun.
Jana Al Khatib of Jordan claimed the title of Girls’ Singles event following her victory over Sofia Baranova in the final march.
In Girls Doubles, Sofiya Baranova and Adel Malgonussova edged past Jana Khatib and Andra Sutherland to win the title.
Saad Al Mohannadi congratulated the winners and stressed that the federation is committed to support the Qatari players, improve their levels and help them balance between education and sport.
"Asian Junior Tournament is one of the important events on our annual calendar. It gives the local players and opportunity to battle with the best talents in Asia" he said.
