Curtains Come Down on Qatar Rail Tennis Open Tournament

The third edition of Qatar Rail Tennis Open Tournament was concluded at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Sunday.
The tournament brought together 250 players including 80 national team players.
The medal ceremony was attended by Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation Tariq Zainal and Communication & Public Relations Director at Qatar Railways Company Abdullah Al Mawlawi.
Zainal handed over the federation’s commemorative shield to Al Mawlawi in recognition of Qatar Rail Support to Tennis in Qatar.
Zainal also congratulated the winners of tournament and lauded their excitement to return to the competitions, despite of the challenges due to coronavirus outbreak.
He also stressed the importance of the partnership between the federation and Qatar Rail and reaffirmed that these initiatives will help the Qatar players develop their skills.
Oman Hassan Abdou won Men’s singles event after beating Anas Lamrani in the final match while Sarah Meghoufel took the first place in women’s singles event following her victory over Aleksandra Bortnichek in the final match
Moreover, Sultan Khalfan and Essa Shanan claimed the title of Men’s doubles event while Adel Ghanim hoisted the trophy of boys under 18 years event following his victory over Ali Al Yafei in the final match.
In doubles event, Nasser Al Yafei teamed up with Abdulaziz Zainal to defeat Adel Ghanim and Ali Yafei to take the first place.
In boys under 14 years event, Hassan Adel and Ghanim Al Sulaiti finished second. Taima Hassiba dominated girls under 18 years event while Sheikha Khalifa finished second.
In girls under 14 years event, Khadija Gassama took the first place ahead of Safia Al Thani in the second place while Danah Khalifa managed second in girls under 12 years event.
