Mohamed Al Mulla becomes the first Qatari umpire to officiate in Davis Cup matches in Europe

Qatar’s Mohamed Al Mulla is set to become the first Qatari chair umpire to officiate in Davis Cup Europe Zone Group IV to be held in San Marino from 15 to 20 July 2019.

The participation of Al Mulla in this event comes upon an invitation from the International Tennis Federation after the experience he acquired and the huge number of events he attended.

Al Mulla will also participate in Rogers Cup to be staged in Montreal, Canada from 5 to 11 August.

Commenting on his achievement, Al Mulla said, “I’m so happy with this international participation, which will undoubtedly enhance my experience and will also give me the chance to officiate other future events like 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo ”

“The participation in these type of international event will help get the bronze badge so I can officiate in Davis Group I, ATP and WTA world Tours. I owe it to the Qatar Tennis Federation under the leadership of HE Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi who provided me with all means of support in my career as a tennis umpire.” he added.

It’s worth mentioning that Al Mulla got the white badge as a chief umpire in 2016 two years after getting the white badge as chair umpire in 2014.
