The Qatari U14 tennis team defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 on Tuesday in their second match in the Asia-Oceania Final Qualifying event for ITF World Junior Tennis Competition.
The Qatari delegation arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday to participate in the event to conclude on April 07.
The Qatari team will take on Chine in their next group stage match on Wednesday.
The state of Qatar is represented by Nasser Al Yafei, Rashed Nawaf and Meshari Nawaf.
The event features the participation of China, Japan, Thailand, Australia, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Qatar, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Syria, New Zealand, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
The four top teams will qualify to the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition to be staged in Czech Republic in August 2019.
Khalid Al Khelaifi, Chairman of National Teams Committee at the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) wished all success for the Qatari players in this important event and stressed that he is confident that the Qatari players will do their best to make the Qatari tennis proud.
Al Khelaifi also said that the QTSBF is keen to follow its strategies to help the Qatari players reach high positions in world ranking by providing them with all possible means of support.
