The preliminary rounds of Qatar Men’s ITF World Tennis Tour will begin at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
The preliminary rounds will feature the participation of 24 players to compete for the 8 qualifying spots for the main rounds to begin on Tuesday.
The state of Qatar will be represented by Mousa Shanan and Nasser Al Yafei who received wild cards from the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF)
The ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour serves as the entry-level for professional tennis and sits between the ITF Junior World Tennis Tour and the elite levels of men’s professional tennis. The results of ITF tournaments are incorporated into the ATP Ranking, which enables professionals to progress to the ATP Challenger Tour and, ultimately, the ATP Tour.
The QTF Executive Director Saad A Mohannadi said that the federation is keen to host these type of tournament as they provide the Qatari players with opportunity to improve their levels.
