The Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation announced its plan to resume the training sessions of its players which were suspended due to the protective measures taken by the state of Qatar to curb the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The federation stressed that its plan will be divided into three phases and will begin by the necessary medical examinations including coronavirus examinations for the players and their supporting staff.
The first phase will also feature the return of men’s national team to the training sessions during July for 5 times a week then the second phase will begin on August 01 in which two or three players will be allowed to train at each court.
The third phase which will begin on September 01, will see the return of all age groups to the training sessions with two or three players only allowed to train at each court.
Mr. Khalid Al Khelaifi, Board Member of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation said that the federation’s plan to resume the training sessions comes in light of the protective measures taken by the Qatar Olympic Committee to protect the national teams players.
Al Khalaifi added that the gradual resumption of training sessions is a positive step toward the resumption of sports activities after this period of suspension due to coronavirus.
Al Khalifi stressed that the tournaments of the International Tennis Federations were not resumed yet, but we expect that some of WTA and ATP tournaments to held as of August.
It’s worth mentioning that the federation began the home training sessions of its players using Zoom App to keep them fit during that period of suspension.
