The Qatari tennis team will take on their Uzbek counterparts in the semifinals of tennis event at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games being held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Qatari tennis team qualified to the semifinals after securing the second place in their group. Qatar began their campaign in the games with 0-3 defeat against Pakistan then they defeated Jordan 2-1 and downed hosts Azerbaijan 3-0.
The tennis event brings together Qatar, Pakistan, Jordan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and hosts Azerbaijan.
The Qatari squad coached by Younes El Aynaoui included Mubarak Shanan, Mousa Shanan and Abdullah Shanan.
Khalid Al Khelaifi, Board Member of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) said “We are confident that the Qatari team can show their best in this huge gathering and make the results that cope with expectations of the federation.”
“The Qatari tennis team will benefit from participating in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games as the players are competing with highly ranked players from a huge number of countries” Khalid Al Khelaifi added.
Khalid Al Khelaifi also wished the best for the players of the other Qatari national teams participating in the Games.
