QTSBF, QTA tie up to promote sports tourism

The Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) announced a new partnership with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) in a conference held on Wednesday.

In light of this partnership, the QTSBF and the QTA will promote the country as destination for sports tourism, by leveraging the 2018 Qatar Total Open, which features some of the world’s top tennis players.

With this partnership, QTA joins a long list of local and international companies and institutions which support the Qatar Total Open and continue to underline the importance of sport in the state of Qatar.

On this occasion, the QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal said “It is our pleasure to announce this new partnership with QTA which promotes the State of Qatar as a leading tourism destination in the Middle East and the world.”

“Qatar Total Open is one of the major sports events being held in Doha, as it continues to attract top players in the WTA Ranking” he added.

Zainal also stressed that this partnership comes in light of the QTSBF strategy to support sport and athletes in the Qatar and to highlight the country’s pioneering role in hosting major sports event in our region.

Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer at QTA, said: “QTA  has long recognized the unique power of sports to bring people, whether participants or spectators, together from all around the world. That’s why sports tourism has been placed among four priority focus areas in the Next Chapter of the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy.”

He added, “Our partnership with QTSBF allows us to leverage a premium sports event to spread Qatar’s message of welcome to the world, by placing Qatar’s destination brand in strategic areas of the court and in the tournament’s promotion video, helping us to reach millions of tennis fans around the globe.”
