Qatar’s Rashed Nawaf claimed the title of boys singles event at Qatar Asian Junior 14&U Tournament held last week.
The event was organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) in coordination with the Asian Tennis Federation.
Rashed Nawaf hoisted the trophy of boys singles event after beating India’s Aditya Chopra 6-2 6-3 in the final match.
Moreover, Qatar’s Nasser Al Yafei teamed up with Syria’s Taim Al Azma to claim the title of boys doubles event following their 6-0 6-2 victory over India’s Aditya Chopra and Kazakhstan’s Artur Khairutdinov.
In girls singles event, Meshkatolzahra Safi of Iran claimed the title after beating Jumazhanova of Kazakhstan 6-3 6-2 in the final match.
Kazakhstan’s Karina Jumazhanova and Aiya Nupbay emerged victorious in girls doubles event. In the final match, they defeated Yee Ting Chan and Ireka Hajji of Hong Kong.
The QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal and the QTSBF Director of Local Tournament Sultan Khalfan attended the medal ceremony.
The QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal lauded the results made by the Qatari players Rashed Nawaf and Nasser Al Yafei and stressed that claiming the title of Asian tournament is a new achievement to be added to the record of Qatari tennis.
“This achievement will not only motivate the other players, but it will also motivate the federation to complete its plan which aim at developing the Qatari national teams” he added.
