The 11th Smash Tennis Academy Championship organized in cooperation with the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) began at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex recently.
To conclude on May 05, the event brings together 350 players who are competing in a huge number of age categories including boys and girls under 8, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 18 years, men and women.
Ghanim Al Sulaiti qualified to the quarterfinals of boys under 12 years event after beating Tanoush Sharma 6-0 6-0. Fahad Al Thani also reached the quarterfinals of the same event after beating Taha Hasiba 6-1 6-0 while Fahad Al Khelaifi edged past Hesham Badawi 6-1 6-0.
On the other hand, Meshaal Al Khenji teamed with Nasser Al Khelaifi to beat Nasser Hamadi and Turky Al Abdullah 7-6 7-6 and cruise to the quarterfinals of boys under 14 years doubles event.
The QTF Board Member Khalid Al Khelaifi said, “We are proud of the cooperation with Smash Academy in organizing the tournament.”
“This year, the tournament celebrates its 11th anniversary as it became one of the most important local events through the increasing numbers of participants and its contribution to the development of tennis in the state of Qatar” he added.
Al Khelaifi also stressed that the championship will give an opportunity to the Qatari players to compete with new players and to prepare them for the upcoming events
It worth mentioning that Smash Academy is one of the prominent tennis academies in the state of Qatar and the region which provide its students with modern training programs.
