Qatar’s junior tennis team claimed the second place at the GCC Tennis Championship Under 14 & 18 years held in Manama, Bahrain with participation of all GCC nations.
The Qatari team began their campaign in the championship with a 3-0 victory over hosts Bahrain on Monday then they defeated Oman 2-1 and Saudi Arabia 2-1 before going down fighting against Kuwait on Thursday.
Qatar’s challenge at the championship was led by 4 players including Nasser Al Yafei, Ali Saadi, Meshaal Al Khenji and Sultan Al Malki.
Tariq Zainal, Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation congratulated the players on taking the second place lauding the level they have shown during the tournament.
Zainal also thanked the different committees of the federation on their efforts to develop tennis in the state of Qatar and help the Qatari athletes to make these achievements.
