Wang wins Qatar F5 Futures

France’s Tak Khunn Wang claimed the title of Qatar F5 Futures organized by the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) in cooperation with the International Tennis Federation.

 In the final match held on Saturday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, the world number 366 Tak Khunn Wang defeated Goncalo Oliveira of Portugal 6-3 6-3.

 On the other hand, the Portuguese duo of Goncalo Oliveira and Bernardo Saraiva hoisted the trophy of doubles event following their 4-6 6-3 [13-11] over Italy’s Adelchi Virgili and Qatar’s Mubarak Shannan in the final match.

The QTF Executive Director and Tournament Director Saad Al Mohannadi honored the winners as the closing ceremony was attended by the huge number of tennis lovers in the state of Qatar.

After the match, Tak Khunn Wang of France said, “I’m so happy that I claimed the title of Qatar F5 Futures. My serve was so good in the final match against Goncalo so I was able to defeat him”

 

“This is my second title in Doha after 2016 so in enjoyed playing here in Doha which is a special place for me,” he added.

 On his ambitions in the new sports season, Wang said that he would try to improve his level and stay fit as injuries kept him away for long periods of the last season. 

The QTF Executive Director and Tournament Director congratulated the winners and hailed the achievement made by the Qatari player Mubarak Shannan who claimed the second place in doubles event for the first time in his career.

“This result is a source of pride the federation which began reaping the fruits of programs and strategies to prepare the Qatari professional tennis players including Mubarak Shannan.” He said. 

 “The QTF received some positive reviews form the players as the event used to attract a huge number of players in an indication for its success and its importance on ITF calendar.” he added
