Sam Barry of Ireland defeated Liam Broady of Great Britain, 7-6(2) 6-4, in the final of the 1st Smash ITF Futures on Saturday night at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. The team of Adam Chadaj and Dominik Schulz defeated the duo of Luke Bambridge and Ivan Hoyt 1-6 7-6(4) [10-4] in the doubles final.
As tennis’ greatest ambassadors plan to descend upon Doha for the 22nd Qatar ExxonMobil Open, being held December 30, 2013 – January 4, 2014, the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex is preparing the venue for a host of athletes, sponsors and fans.
The final match took place at 5:00 pm where the Qatari team of Issa Shanan and Omar Al Jufairi defeated the team of Abdulaziz Hussein from United Arab Emirates and Al Janahi from Suadi Arabia. This win came after Issa Shannan had defeated Saudi's Fares Al Janahi in the boys singles competition, making a great Qatari achievement over this night.
The 1st Smash ITF Futures events is being played November 30th to December 7th, 2013, at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. Qualifying matches sees the participation of 32 players from 20 different countries competing for eight qualifying spots that will enable them to play in the main draw which will start December 2nd, 2013.
